Family Therapy in Orange County
When the whole family feels stuck, healing happens together.
Families are living systems—dynamic, complex, and shaped by every person within them. Sometimes the ways your family has learned to function simply stop working. Communication breaks down. Old patterns resurface. The connection you once had feels strained—or perhaps it has never felt as strong as you wished it could be.
Samantha offers family therapy for families who want to better understand the patterns beneath the conflict, strengthen communication, and find a more connected way forward together.
You don't need to know exactly what's wrong, or agree on what needs to change, before coming to therapy. Sometimes recognizing that the way things are working isn't working anymore is enough of a place to begin.
Who is family therapy for?
Families often come to therapy when they're navigating:
Cycles of conflict that feel impossible to break
Conversations that leave you talking past each other instead of with each other
Child or adolescent behaviors that leave you overwhelmed or unsure how to respond
Major life transitions such as divorce, remarriage, illness, loss, or relocation that have disrupted your family's sense of stability
Blended family challenges—different histories, different rules, and different needs under one roof
Cultural, religious, or generational differences that create tension or misunderstanding
Wounds from your own family of origin that keep showing up in the family you've built
A sense that everyone loves each other, but no one feels quite seen
Major ruptures such as betrayal, estrangement, addiction, infidelity, or a painful family event that has fractured trust and left relationships feeling uncertain
What family therapy can offer
Family therapy isn't about assigning blame or identifying one person as "the problem." It's about looking at the family as a whole and understanding how each person's experiences, reactions, and ways of protecting themselves interact with everyone else's.
When we can see those dynamics more clearly, we can begin to shift them.
In our work together, we'll:
Slow down the recurring cycles that leave everyone feeling stuck
Create space for each family member's experience to be heard
Notice patterns that may have once protected the family but no longer serve it
Build ways of communicating that actually work—not scripts, but more meaningful ways of understanding and being with each other
Support the family in developing greater trust, connection, and mutual understanding
A whole-family, systems-based approach
I'm an Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed clinician, which means I pay close attention to the different parts within each of us—the protective parts, the wounded parts, and the parts that tend to show up during conflict.
When families begin to recognize that everyone has parts doing their best to protect something, judgment can begin to soften and curiosity can take its place.
I also draw from family systems theory and evidence-based approaches including EFT and EMDR when clinically relevant. My work is grounded in the belief that families are capable of meaningful healing when given the right time, support, and space to understand one another differently—so the whole family can move forward without anyone being left behind.
The pattern doesn't have to stay the pattern.
When the same patterns keep repeating, it can be hard to imagine another way forward. I can help your family slow things down, understand what's happening beneath the conflict, and begin rebuilding connection together.
